Chas Christiansen is a jack of all trades bike racer hailing from The Bay Area.  From his start shredding the streets on fixed gear bikes, pelotons and pace lining were foreign concepts only seen on TDF broadcasts.  Later the scenic roads north of San Francisco were where he cut his teeth learning the finer points of road racing (trying to hold Levi's wheel).  Now he focuses on international ultra endurance events like Atlas Mountain Race and The Transcontinental.  So coming back to race  on the same roads where the fire was first lit feels like a full circle.
