Lawrence Naesen, a 32-year-old Belgian cyclist born on August 28, 1992, in Ostend, has had a remarkable and unconventional journey in professional cycling. Starting relatively late, he began riding at the age of 20 and transitioned to professional racing by 24. Naesen signed his first pro contract in 2016 and competed with teams such as WB Veranclassic Aqua Protect, Lotto Soudal, and AG2R La Mondiale/Citroën. His professional career spanned from 2017 to 2023.

During his tenure at AG2R La Mondiale, Naesen spent four years racing alongside his brother, Oliver Naesen, and demonstrated his versatility with top-10 finishes in prestigious races like Eschborn–Frankfurt and the Brussels Cycling Classic. Despite these accomplishments, he faced challenges securing a WorldTour contract for the 2024 season. This prompted him to pivot toward gravel racing at the age of 31.

Embracing the growing gravel scene, Naesen launched “Team Law,” supported by sponsors such as Rapha and Scott Sports Benelux. His adaptability shone through with a 16th-place finish at the 2023 UCI Gravel World Championships and an impressive second-place result at the inaugural Levi’s GranFondo Growler in 2024. Now focused on off-road events, Naesen continues to compete globally as a privateer, demonstrating resilience and a passion for cycling across disciplines.
